What is a Routing Number?
A routing number directs funds to the proper bank during a transaction, it's a way to identify check-processing endpoints. You should be able to see your nine-digit routing number on the lower-left corner of your checks.
Can banks have multiple routing numbers?
Yes, certain banks can have multiple routing numbers for geographic reasons. For example, banks like Wells Fargo and Citibank have different routing numbers for different states and for functionality. So if your bank operates in several different states, it will probably have routing numbers that correspond to each state. PNC has multiple routing numbers based on state and one for international transefers.
How to find a Routing Number on a check?
The routing number will be printed along with the account and check numbers. You can find it at the bottom-left corner of the check before your account number.
What is the Routing Number for International Transfers?
If you are needing to receive a transfer from overseas, you'll need to provide the sender with a SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) code. SWIFT codes are routing numbers for international transactions between banks. They have eight to eleven digits with letters and numbers, unlike the routing number.
For example, if you work overseas and want to send money from your international account to a US, you'll need a SWIFT code. Just call your bank or visit its website to find the SWIFT code for an international wire transfer.

Call Customer Service: Call PNC Bank at (888) 762-2265. After you provide a few specific details to identify yourself, a representative will be able to confirm your account's routing number.
Routing Numbers For Wire Transfers
Wire transfers are a quicker way to send money than an ACH transfer. Anyone can wire funds to your PNC Bank account for a small fee.
You can even set up a domestic or international wire from you PNC Bank account online.
If the wire transfer is within the US
Using one of the bank routing numbers from the list above, you can begin a wire transfer but double check before confirming the transaction.
Additionally, you will need to have the following information:
- Recipient's name as it appears on the account
- Location of the recipient's bank (including city and state)
- Account number
- Bank routing number
For international transfers, you will need your Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications (SWIFT) code, which for PNC Bank is PNCCUS33, and the following additional information:
- Recipient's name as it appears on the account
- Recipient bank name, address, and country
- Recipient account number (you may need a country-specific account structure, e.g., a CLABE for Mexico or an IBAN for international bank accounts)
- Recipient bank's SWIFT code
